This refurbished sandstone home in rural Umbria retains a traditional charm with its original wood ceiling beams and oak wood floors – but has been updated for the ideal modern holiday. Making ingenious use of the area’s iconic terrain, the villa is wedged into a hill and spread across three floors, with views over the lush hills and lavender-filled garden. Spend a morning by the azure pool, and later have some lunch under the pergola, where climbing wisteria and jasmine makes for a fragrant atmosphere. In the evening, take a walk among the olive and cypress trees, or head indoors to play a game of billiards over some drinks. An exposed stone fireplace and rustic furnishings means the villa blends perfectly with the countryside – you’re bound to feel at one with it.
